Transport is, without doubt,
one of the biggest contributors to green house gas emissions. The two largest offenders are cars and
airplanes. The way we travel pollutes and fouls the air we breathe and, actually, kills quite a few of
us annually in accidents and crashes.
There are many ways that green consumers can reduce the impact of their travel on the
planet. Some of these are to forgo using your car at all and bike, walk, or use public transport
instead. If you must use your car to travel back and forth to work, car-pool with a neighbor or a friend.
Many airlines now offer a green option to offset your carbon footprint when you fly. These
programs charge you an extra $10-$50, depending upon your flight plan, that is donated to an energy conservation
program.
Many businesses now teleconference rather than traveling to and from meetings. This
reduces the negative impact of your business on the environment and saves money on the bottom line.
Many of the options available for transport, like biking, walking, and hiking, not only benefit
conservation and clean air, but have direct personal health advantages, also.
