Green Cleaning Products - A Healthier Solution For Cleaning Your Home
Using green cleaning products is the core of natural cleaning. Green cleaning
products are truly cleaner because they are nontoxic, natural, biodegradable, concentrated, and hypoallergenic, and
are excellent cleaners ...
Cleanliness is vital for a healthy home, but generally we use too many chemical cleaning
products and in too great a quantity, and are oblivious to their side effects. There are proven natural
alternatives in the form of eco friendly cleaning products that are just as effective, that do not have such a
negative impact on our environment, and that will leave your home smelling pleasantly fresh and fragrant.
So, what are these natural alternatives and why haven’t we heard of them earlier?
Natural, or Organic cleaning products are a safe, natural alternative to the harmful chemicals found in common
commercial cleaning products. Every organic cleaning cupboard should have white vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda,
pure soap, table salt, washing soda, and essential oils to name just a few. These organic cleaning products are
effective, inexpensive, good for your health and ethical.
The common commercial products we use today contain a significant concentration of heavy duty chemicals and may not
bring the harmony and sweetness to your life that the manufacturers would have you believe. Less than one quarter
of the 70,000 chemicals used in cleaning products and toiletries have been fully tested for safety, and substances
classified as hazardous waste are found in many common cleaning products.
The largest number of occurrences of poisoning are due to non organic cleaning products - drain cleaners, toilet
bowl cleaners, bleach, soaps and detergents. Ammonia is a very volatile chemical frequently found in inorganic
cleaning products and can be very damaging to your eyes, respiratory tract and skin. Non organic laundry detergents
contain phosphorus, enzymes, ammonia, naphthalene, phenol, sodium nitilotriacetate and countless other chemicals.
Non organic cleaning products for toilet bowls may cause pulmonary edema, vomiting or coma if swallowed. Oven
cleaner is one of the most toxic non organic cleaning products that people use.
Using green cleaning products is the core of natural cleaning. Green cleaning products
are truly cleaner because they are nontoxic, natural, biodegradable, concentrated, and hypoallergenic, and are
excellent cleaners. I love environmentally-friendly cleaning products because they are completely safe for the
home, they will not harm the environment and have major health benefits. When you take the time to become better
informed about the choices that are available to you, you'll learn that organic cleaning products and recipes
are easy to find, and will probably fit nicely into your budget. There are numerous excellent books and
information available on ‘green cleaning’ and environmentally-friendly cleaning products.
I confess; I’m a recent convert to using organic cleaning products at home. The only reason I had not ‘converted’
sooner was that no one had informed me of the natural alternative. I have found the products work just as well in
almost all situations, is cheaper, healthier, more environmentally friendly and it gives me a good feeling to know
that I’m ‘doing the right thing’. My chemical free home is a delight to be in – it looks and feels good and smells
fresh too.
So, with all the information above, why aren’t more of us switching to the natural alternatives? Based on feedback,
the answers I received are; 1) people are not educated or aware about the alternatives, 2) people don’t have the
time or desire, and 3) many claim the natural solutions don’t work as well as chemicals. I have a personal opinion
on all three answers, but the wonderful world we live in means people are very different on many levels. As a
result, the reasons listed above are valid to many people.
The objective of this article is not to sell you anything; I just want you to be aware, then you can make your own
informed decision. I do however, strongly urge and encourage you to try the natural alternatives, just once. What
have you got to lose? I guarantee the benefits you get will far outweigh any inconveniences you feel you may
experience. You will feel and smell the benefits of switching to natural cleaning products if not immediately, then
certainly after a very short time.
So, clear out your old household cleaners and start anew with the natural alternatives and keep your home clean,
safe and healthy. Green cleaning products are definitely the way to go!!

All Natural Cleaning Products For Natural Cleaning Solutions
Usage of chemical products to clean your house might yield good cleaning results but, its
adverse effect on the environment is inevitable. Fortunately, there are many ways that can help you stir away from
the effects of chemical cleaning products while getting the same cleaning results in your home.
The all natural cleaning products are always great substitutes for the standard chemical
cleaners because they can perform the same role without hurting the surrounding environment. The best thing about
these bio cleaners is that you can make them at home or buy them from stores.
To make all natural cleaning products at home, you only need very simple ingredients. The first
ingredient on the list is lemon. Lemon is known to be a great remover of grease because it breaks it up within
seconds. Lemon also has a great effect on removing odors. If you are buying a natural cleaning product from a store
then make sure that it contains lemon as a basic ingredient.
Vinegar, alcohol and borax are among the basic ingredients of all natural cleaning products. The
best thing about these ingredients is that they can be easily destructed in the nature without leaving any harmful
residues. In the mean time, they are very powerful on cleaning spots, removing dirt, deodorizing your kitchen and
cleaning your windows without leaving any streaks behind.
When you choose your all natural cleaning products, do not forget to purchase those containing
all these ingredients because that will help you get the level of cleaning you want without sacrificing your eco -
friendly attitude.
It is a great idea to buy your cleaning products over the internet because this gives you a very
good chance to compare different products and see which ones can be more useful for you. Also you will be able to
read what other users think about these cleaners as they have tried it before. This will help you a lot choosing
the right product for you. In addition to this, purchasing these cleaners over the internet will help you get the
best price. The internet sellers are always able to provide their customers with better prices because they do not
have to pay large over head cost. They do not have physical store to maintain, they do not have rent to pay and
they do not have to pay long pay rolls for their employees.
Purchasing all natural cleaning products is one step that you can do in order to preserve your
environment and to help keeping your family safe. In case of accidental touch with food, there is no great hazard
because, lemon and vinegar exists naturally in most of the food types we eat, alcohol evaporates after few seconds
so, natural cleaners are much safer than standard chemical ones.
Stop using the chemical cleaners because they will not offer you higher cleaning level than the
natural ones. In fact, the natural cleaning products are able to deliver shinier and whiter results than bleach
when used on clothes. In the mean time, bleach has its own adverse effect on the cloth itself.
Many articles about natural cleaning products tell you all about
the consumable product that actually does the cleaning - the vinegar, the baking
soda, the borax, the soap, etc. However, when you get onto cleaning -whether you
use and make your own natural products, whether you use commercial cleaners or
whether you use a mixture of both - you'll need more than just the cleaning product
itself.
For a start, for home-made cleaners, you will need containers.
If you are using salt or vinegar or baking soda "straight" then the packet you
bought it in is probably good enough. But if you have to mix stuff up, you'll need
something to keep the mixed product in. This is especially true of natural home
cleaners containing essential oils, as these need time to mellow and blend, and
essential oils should not be anywhere near the vinegar that goes on your fish and
chips or your salad. You do not always have to run out and buy special containers.
People who like cleaning using natural methods tend to be an environmentally
conscious lot, so it's good to know that most, if not all, the containers you need
are probably already in your home holding jam or something. Good items to save as
containers include:
* Screw-top jars, either glass or plastic.
* Ice cream containers and large yoghurt pottles with airtight
lids
* Spray bottles (if you're switching from commercial to
home-made cleaners, save those pump-spray bottles, but rinse them very well
first).
You can also use an ordinary plate or bowl if you're mixing up a
small amount to use on the spot just once, e.g. a salt and vinegar paste for
cleaning copper and brass.
Next, you'll need lots of cloths for wiping things on and
rinsing things off. You can use paper towels - you won't be saving the rainforest
by not using them; most paper products come from sustainably managed forests - but
you'll need an awful lot of them and this can get expensive. Better to use cleaning
rags, as they're re-usable. You do not have to buy cleaning rags, either. Any old,
soft fabric item that's falling to bits can be turned into a cleaning rag. Old
sheets, towels and tea towels are fantastic. So are cotton nappies once the baby is
no longer a baby, old T-shirts, odd socks and ancient underpants. Avoid using
anything with a scratchy zip, anything with buttons (cut them off and save them for
when someone loses a button), anything denim (too harsh) and anything made of a
fancy super-duper synthetic sports fabric that doesn't hold moisture.
You can also buy cloths for cleaning. Enjo (microfibre) cloths
spring to mind first up, but others worth considering are natural sponges (for
cleaning stains off carpets) and natural chamois leather (for cars and a few other
things).
You will also need scrubbing brushes. Get several:
* A tough bristled brush for really hard jobs
* A softer bristled brush for something that needs a good scrub
but might get scratched
* An old toothbrush or three for getting into tricky places.
* A bottle brush.
* A toilet brush. Some people hate using toilet brushes on the
grounds that they are unhygienic. Personally, the idea of reaching down inside a
toilet bowl with a cleaning rag is repulsive (my rubber gloves don't reach up past
the elbow and the idea that toilet=germs=hands off is very deeply ingrained), and
the toilet brush won't be all that bad if you keep it bristle-down in some sort of
disinfectant when not in use.
You will also need the usual cleaning tools: buckets (lots of
these), brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners and feather dusters. However, rubber gloves
will be not used as often, as natural cleaning products are gentler on the skin.
Don't ditch the gloves, though. You will still need them for when you clean up
something revolting or have to use strong soap.
Do You Know The Top 3 Natural Cleaning Products To Get the House Clean For
Just A Few Bucks?
Now I'm no cleaning expert, but when I found these natural and non-toxic cleaners for just a few
bucks, I had to try them out. I have listed my top three favorite green cleaners that are wonderful alternatives to
toxic and costly cleaning chemicals, and they get the job done just as well. Did I mention you'll save money in the
process while keeping toxins out of your house? It's true.
Opt for Olive Oil When Working With Wood.
Instead of reaching for toxic and costly furniture polish, head for the kitchen and get a few drops of olive
oil. While it's good on bread, it's also great on furniture, hardwood floors and kitchen items such as cutting
boards or wooden spoons.
I have an ancient rocking chair that I feel obligated to keep looking its best, and I spent so much time
trying to find out what polish would be best for it. I decided to try olive oil first, and I was really
surprised how the oil simply brought out its features and did what I needed it to do. I avoided bringing new
toxic chemicals into the house, and I saved a few bucks in the process. It's funny how that works out, you
know?
Use White Vinegar for Cleaning Harder Stains and Deodorizing Just About Anything.
I'll admit, I didn't know what you would use white vinegar for anyway. I had used it once to clean out
valves on my steam heating system and it worked great. This stuff, obtained for under a dollar, can be used to
chew up all kinds of tough grime that you'd otherwise pay more to use toxic chemicals on.
Instead of wasting money on a bottle of crappy Drano or Liquid Plumr, try using white vinegar to clean your
drains. My house is over a hundred years old, so the water pressure and drainage aren't the best. I've even
been told that using a strong chemical to clean the drains could destroy the pipes. So I put a cup of white
vinegar in the drain each month and let it sit for a few hours...definitely makes a difference. If you combine
white vinegar with baking soda, you can also create a good cleaning agent for stains of surfaces such as a
linoleum floor. It's really simple, just let it sit there for a while before rinsing the area clean with water.
The stuff really works wonders, so get into it.
Reach for Club Soda When Dealing With Tough Stains.
Club soda, I've never thought to use it for anything but mixed drinks. What do you know, it's great for a
number of hard cleaning jobs and even watering the plants.
Club soda is great for all kinds of around the house tough jobs. Whether you're removing rust or cleaning
jewelry, club soda has you covered. I like club soda the best since I recently got into gardening a bit more.
I've used it to loosen up rusty hinges on the doors of my rickety old house, then dump it on my plants for a
healthy mineral bath. Now I can't claim that club soda is the sole reason why my plants are huge, but between
that and my compost, my plants love me. Did I mention how cheap this stuff is? Get some.
It's pretty simple: between the three aforementioned natural cleaning products, you're saving money and
getting the job done without the toxic chemicals. I've gone from having close to a dozen different cleaners in
the house to merely three. Even better, I bought all three for less than a bottle of drain cleaner. It doesn't
get much better than that.
Of course, these tips are just the start of your green cleaning revolution. A complete green cleaning
program is simple to implement and ends up saving you money while keeping toxic and cancerous chemicals out of
your home. This is one aspect of eco friendly living where I truly believe that everyone can do their part and
thrive...and it's really simple. So just go for it and reap the benefits.
