Ethanol Fuel – The Gas Alternative

There are many alternatives to gasoline out there now. You have electric, bio-diesel and even hydrogen engines that are being researched. But one of the leading contenders to gasoline’s crown as king is ethanol fuel. You could argue that it’s leading the pack. But should we put all of our eggs in one basket?

What is ethanol fuel? Simply put, it’s the same thing James Bond likes, shaken but not stirred. You’ve got it; good old drinking alcohol. It can be made from corn, sugar cane, hemp and many other plants. Ethanol fuel is made through a process involving fermentation of the ethanol, distillation and all of the old familiar tunes that go along with making a homemade brew. However, this concoction will not be sipped out of a glass, but it will run a vehicle engine for the same amount of time as gasoline.
