The Global Consequences Of Greenhouse Gas Emissions
It is almost ironic that we talk about naturally occurring gases that have been beneficial to the earth for millions of years and we now have to classify them as something harmful that need to be eliminated. The greenhouse gases are the ones that hover in the atmosphere and hold in the heat. It was never a problem until greenhouse gas emissions reached a point where the planet could no longer process the gases as quickly as we created them. The process has led the planet to start to warm up. It hasn’t happened slowly either. Most planetary changes takes thousands, or even millions of years to take place. In less than a century though, the automation of our world has changed everything.
Greenhouse gas emission represent waste. They are the result or the by product of something. Carbon dioxide is the by product of people breathing. Carbon monoxide is the by product of combustion engines like the one that runs your car. Methane is produced naturally by rotting vegetation and, believe it or not, by the solid waste of all kinds of animals. These make up just a few of the greenhouse gases. While some are not a big deal when they occur in moderate amounts, the massive accumulation of them in the atmosphere is what is causing the problem.
