The Challenges Of Bottling Clean Drinking Water

You have probably heard those slogans about water being as pure as a mountain stream water or glacial water. The simple fact of the matter is that not all sources provide clean drinking water. Water is needed to sustain life. You should not have to worry that your source water is contaminated with pollutants, or chemical run off from factories and farms. Everyone should know something about safe water if they want to stay healthy.

All source water in the United States is different. Don’t expect perfect water, because no water is completely pure since all water contains some impurities. Granted, the United States has safe water due to regulatory agencies that monitor public water sources. The drinking water system of towns and cities must provide the Environmental Protection Agency with a water quality report and samples of its water. Well water on private land is not regulated by the EPA or any regulatory commission.

Safe Drinking Water – An Absolute Necessity

There are many things in life that we consider to be essential. That new car or that new pair of shoes may seem essential but in reality they are not. Food, water and shelter are absolutely necessary for survival. Without water we would not exist. You would not get the chance to wear those new shoes or drive that new car. If you have ever traveled to another country, such as Mexico, then you have heard about the drinking water available there. It can not be just any water that you drink. It must be safe water that will not make you sick.

Drinking water has to be balanced. Run off from local farms that use pesticides, run off from animal livestock areas or run off from industrial parks can all have a direct bearing on source water. Should there be a contamination issue; the local public water office must issue a warning to citizens that a boil order is in effect. This means that all water, excluding bathing, must be boiled to ensure safety.

Safe Drinking Water – A Basic Human Right

The US government has special agencies in place to help keep people and the environment safe. But not every country can boast of that accomplishment. Safe drinking water is at a premium due to excess pollution that is harming their environment. They don’t have drinking water standards or water treatment plants, so people are forced to drink stagnant, contaminated water, which perpetuates an endless cycle of dysentery and guinea worm disease.

The Environmental Protection Agency was formed to protect the environment. This includes the water which ensures life. You should know that there really is no such thing as pure water. All water contains trace elements such as minerals. It is one of the huge selling points of the bottled water industry. Water purifiers do take out a lot of impurities but you should know how safe your drinking water is and about the laws that regulate drinking water standards.

Drinking Water Supplies And Good Tasting Water

If you use well water or your source water has a horrible taste, then you may need to think about purchasing drinking water supplies to help make your water taste better and safer for consumption. You don’t want to give the bottled water industry all of your hard earned money, just to buy a two dollar bottle of Fuji water because it’s marketed as the world’s best. Your tap water may be the source you need to turn to for your water needs. Think about that before you start whipping out your credit card.

Water purifiers are probably the number one drinking water system currently on the market. The purifier takes out any impurities found in the water supply. Well water definitely tastes different than city tap water or bottled water. This could be due to lime deposits found in the underground water supply that is tapped into by your water system. It can leave a build up of lime in your bathtub, sinks and even your hot water heater, which can cause the element to burn out or cause the entire heater to become useless. Lime build up is hard to remove so most people opt for a purification system to help remove it from the water. Water softeners can be expensive though.
